Wives And Daughters, novel by Elizabeth Gaskell, is an ignored master piece which I highly recommanded you to read/see if you have time. The story begins with a girl named Molly Gisbon, casting Justine Waddell who's also one of my favorite actresses, and her life from a little girl to a young lady. Elizabeth Gaskell is a forgotten genius not only in her own time, but also at present.
The story is talking about Molly Gibson's life, everything that changes her life after her father married again. Molly is a sweet, beautiful girl with a good heart, she helped the Hamleys' go through several difficulties and she's also treated as one of their families by Osborne, the elder brother, Roger, the second son, Squire Hamley the father and Mrs. Hamley the mother. Molly's father, Mr. Gisbon married a woman who used to be called lady Claire, she and Molly have met when Molly was a little girl visiting the Tower with her mother's friends, Miss Brownings. Mrs. Gisbon also brought her daughter, the same age as Molly, Cynthia to the town and that definately changed Molly's life.... I've spent a whole afternoon yesterday for this DVD, again. Yes, this is my second time watching it, I do love the story. If you love Jane Austen, or things about the period of time, you will love this story as well. Elizabeth Gaskell might not be as famous as Jane Austen, but her story's really intriguing. I haven't have time to finish the reading, but I believe the novel will be more interesting than the four-episode TV series. You'll be able to find the DVD selling in all music stores, but I'm not sure if you could rent it though... You won't regret to buy a set if you like everything about the society during 17 to 18 century.
